Carolyn has enagaed audiences on both a local and international level as an AP, Researcher, Development Producer, Archive Producer, Field Producer and Director. Her experience in a number of roles showcases her versatility in the industry, and her commitment to growth and exploration.
Key skills include: concept and story development; in-depth & investigative research; sourcing, casting and interviewing talent; fact-checking & script editing; archive research & producing; location scouting; on-set producing and creative direction; and working with other key creatives to support their vision.
JOURNALISM & WRITING
Before her transition into the film industry, Carolyn built a solid journalism and writing portfolio. Her work was published in the Australian media by Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, SBS, news.com.au, VICE, HuffPost, The Weekly Times, and Broadsheet.
Covering a wide range of contemporary social issues, she was able to master the ability to distil complex topics into engaging stories, ask insightful questions in order to conduct meaningful interviews, and adapt to different environments while working under pressure.
ACADEMIC & SCREEN INDUSTRY RESEARCH
Carolyn has worked on a number of academic research projects related to film and media including WHO GETS TO TELL AUSTRALIAN STORIES with Deakin University, the first comprehensive look at who tells, frames and produces stories in Australian news and current affairs; and INCENTIVISING AUSTRALIAN SCREEN DIVERSITY, a proposal to improve representation in the film & TV industry, with Monash University.
She has also worked with the SBS Commissioning Team & Head of Creative Diversity, where her research and reporting played a crucial role in shaping their Commissioning Guidelines.
