Carolyn has experience in a range of roles, showcasing her versatility in the industry and her commitment to growth and exploration. Her credits include Associate Producer, Researcher, Archive Producer, Field Producer, Director and Producer.
Her expertise covers in-depth & investigative research, story development, working closely with key creatives to support their vision, sourcing & casting talent, interviewing subjects, fact-checking & script editing, archive producing, location scouting, on-set producing and creative direction.
JOURNALISM & WRITING
Before transitioning into the film industry, Carolyn built a solid journalism background, and was widely published in the Australian media, including by the Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, SBS, news.com.au, VICE, HuffPost, The Weekly Times, and Broadsheet.
Her work covered a wide range of contemporary social issues, which equipped her with the skills to ask insightful questions in order to conduct meaningful interviews, and adapt to different environments to uncover compelling stories.
ACADEMIC & INDUSTRY RESEARCH
Carolyn has worked alongside the SBS Commissioning Team, where her research played a crucial role in shaping their Commissioning Guidelines. She has contributed to a number of academic research projects.
With Deakin University, she worked on WHO GETS TO TELL AUSTRALIAN STORIES, the first comprehensive look at who tells, frames and produces stories in Australian news and current affairs; and with Monash University on INCENTIVISING AUSTRALIAN SCREEN DIVERSITY, a proposal to improve representation in the film & TV industry.
