Carolyn specialises in film, documentary and factual content with a diverse skill set that spans the entire production process from development through to delivery. She is a critical thinker, who is deeply curious with a passion for authentic storytelling.
With experience covering an array of unscripted formats, Carolyn has worked across feature documentaries, documentary series, factual and current affairs programs, shorts and web series. Additionally, she has worked on both local and international stories, with big and small crews, and a number of award-winning production companies.
Carolyn's skillset includes in-depth and investigative research, development of ideas, pitch writing, unearthing engaging stories and crafting narratives, pre-interviewing and casting talent, contributing to writers’ rooms, working in the edit suite, fact-checking and annotating scripts, archive producing, facilitating shoots, location scouting and on-set production.
Notable productions include AACTA award-winning 3-part series STRONG WOMEN (ABC), feature documentary CRACKING COVID (ABC) with Emmy award-winning Genepool Productions, factual series WHO THE BLOODY HELL ARE WE? (SBS) and the landmark series QUEERSTRALIA (ABC). Most recently Carolyn has worked on BEING QUEER IN PUTIN'S SHADOW (SBS DATELINE) and is currently directing the first original Australian series for WE ARE PRIDE (VA Media).
In 2022, Carolyn was sponsored by SBS to participate in a 12-month Screen Producers Australia program, and included in the AA122 Honours List for her contribution to Australian media. In 2023, she was selected for AIDC’s Leading Lights program, and was a finalist in the Melbourne Queer Film Festival’s Pitch Pleez competition.
When she’s not researching fascinating topics, unearthing interesting stories or producing captivating documentaries, she loves sifting through Facebook Marketplace and DIY projects, transforming everyday items into masterpieces – all while maintaining the perfect 'I meant to do that' smile ㋡

Carolyn's work in film is underpinned by a solid background in journalism and academia. Her proficiency to conduct meaningful interviews, adapt to different environments and infuse depth and accuracy, combined with her strong network and contacts, enriches the impact of her documentary filmmaking.
As a Journalist, she has covered a range of contemporary social issues and has been widely published in the Australian media by SBS, The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, news.com.au, VICE, HuffPost, The Weekly Times and Broadsheet.
Her work as an Academic Researcher for Deakin University was formally recognised in the groundbreaking WHO GETS TO TELL AUSTRALIAN STORIES report, and she is currently undertaking a research project with Monash University looking at ways to improve diversity in the Australian screen industry.
Additionally, Carolyn has worked as a Diversity & Inclusion Researcher for the Commissioning Team at SBS, where her work contributed to the launch of the SBS Commissioning Guidelines.
